Adoption fundraising Saturday.

We committed today to work on filling out adoption grants and writing letters. Not my most favorite thing to do on a Saturday, but at least we had pie to eat while we were doing it!

We also picked up a used swing set and a bouncy horse from someone's house (yeah, more free donations!), this morning. On thursday someone else dropped off a big bin of puzzles and games, an easel and a couple of winter coats! Tomorrow we go to pick up a couple of bunk beds! Wow, we are definitely starting to look like a house for a family of six!

We have THE BEST friends in the world! No, really, we do. You might think yours are pretty good, but they don't compare to ours :)

New pictures :)

Yesterday we received two "new to us" pictures of our kids! They are not new pictures, but they were the first ones we had seen with all four kids together. It was so sweet to us... I really can't put into words how precious they are. Sadly, I can't post pictures on-line, so you'll have to see me in person to take a look at their wonderful faces :)

Today our dossier was sent to Colombia! Whoo-hoo!

We really aren't expecting to hear ANYTHING at all for about two months. We are prepared for this, so we will not worry when we don't. Everyday it's harder to not be with our kids. We are praying that everything in Colombia is processed quickly and we can go to get them as soon as possible.

We really are so happy - we're just bursting with joy!

Beans and Rice comes to an end.

We did it! We finished eating our beans and rice (or rather 1 dollar/day) for 30 days! Yesterday, I really had to choke down my last meal of beans and rice for lunch... but I think we will eat a lot more beans and rice in our house. It is crazy cheap, we don't mind it for the most part and we still have a LOT of money to save. So, although we are not going to live on a dollar a day, we still need to be very frugal in our money spending. We were very grateful to go to the grocery store this morning and get a variety of foods.

Our friends the Olsons invited us to an adoption ministry meeting last night. It was incredible. God is doing amazing things in the lives of these people. We were really blessed to be able to attend - and more blessed that the Nelson's attended with us. I think the group will be an invaluable resource to us when our kids come home.

Tomorrow is "Orphan Sunday" at churches around the country. Our youth group is having a pancake breakfast to raise money for an orphanage in Ethiopia. I'm really excited to participate in this and see the youth get excited about adoption and helping orphans. In the afternoon Ed and I are planning on attending an event at Bethlehem Baptist Church for Orphan Sunday.

It has been a huge blessing to us to have our friends' kids tell us that they are praying for our kids - that has been unexpected and humbling.

We can't wait for them to come home.

A busy week.

It has been one of the busiest weeks I can remember. On thursday night we decided that we would go forward with adopting the 4 kids! We are trusting God to raise up the money we need and doing a lot of creative thinking ourselves.

We rushed around like mad on friday to get every single last paper in and handed our dossier in to the Bethany office in Plymouth at 3:15pm. It is now being sent by UPS 2 day to the MI office, where it will be translated and then sent off to Colombia. Paperwork is officially done.

Now we just have 4 kids to get our house and our lives ready for!

We will share more information when it is official.

Thanks for praying everyone!
