Well, I had a fun 2 second thrill today! I got home at 3 to see that we had received the letters we had been waiting for, the I-797 notice of action! I immediately called Ed to tell him and he immediately called our social worker, who immediately told us that's not the letter we're waiting for. Shoot. I was SO excited for those 2 minutes.
At least we know that USCIS has our paperwork and that they are processing it. They sent this letter on the 19th, so hopefully they will have us approved by the end of the week :) I can hope anyway!

I added a timeline to the sidebar. Adoptive families always want to know how long things will take (paperwork, applications, etc), and the best way to know is to check how long it took someone else recently. Also, friends and family always want to know when we'll get our kids, so I included future events that haven't happened yet so you'll have an idea of what still has to happen before we can go.
"Even when the cloud continued over the tabernacle many days, the people of Israel kept the charge of the Lord and did not set out....Whether it was two days, or a month, or a longer time, that the cloud continued over the tabernacle, abiding there, the people of Israel remained in camp and did not set out, but when it lifted they set out. At the command of the Lord they camped, and at the command of the Lord they set out. They kept the charge of the Lord, at the command of the Lord..."
We are learning to wait on the Lord. I am encouraged to know this is a lesson God has been teaching His people for as long as time has existed. Reading the above passage yesterday gave me a new perspective. I've been looking at the small picture - that we need to get to our children. God is helping me to see that He is always leading, always working, I need to keep my eyes on Him for the clues. When He moves, we will move. When He pauses, we need to pause. It is not because we are forgotten. He is training us - training us to wait on Him, to look to Him, to teach us that He is control of everything, He is worthy of trust and has a better plan than ours. Whether it be days, or months or even a longer time, we need to continue to watch God and wait for His command to move. To move before that time would be pointless and disastrous.
Does this mean it's easy? No. We are trusting, but we will keep anxiously waiting for the time when we can go. Till then, we are praying that our hijos are learning the same lessons, that they are not losing hope, but are learning to look wait on a God that is in control.

I am once again just totally blown away by the generosity of friends.
We had a second shower yesterday - thrown by my AMAZING coworkers. Jody, Tamara and Denise put so much thought and love and work into the shower - it was a true fiesta! I can't believe that I've gotten the two coolest showers EVER (really, EVER)! So many people came and gave and gave and gave. The love was overflowing - wow!
I spent the morning going through everything and was just once again overwhelmed by everyone's generosity. I can't believe our kids are getting blessed by all this AND we get our kids! Oh my goodness. It has been so clear to me that God's hand of blessing is really on us. I know I often focus on the hard times, but I have to also clearly recognize when God goes out of His way to bless us. It has been a full week.
We hope to get our I-800 approval any day, really any second. But, I will hold on to the memories of all God has been doing in our lives, if we don't get the approval as quickly as we would like. I trust God is moving and bringing us to our kids in his perfect timing.

Today we received scans of our children's report cards! Oh my goodness - we're not even their parents yet and we felt so proud of them! They are all excellent students who do well in their classes and work well with others. They all had very nice notes from their teachers as well. The funniest comment on it was Pamela's whose teacher said that she,"Does well in all her studies and actions, but needs to give the proper attention to the national flag"! Oh well - Pamela, we'll let that one go :)
It seems that they've all been taking English classes as well, so they should know a little bit of English. We stopped by the Red Balloon tonight and bought a copy of the "El Leon, la Bruja y el Ropero" so that we can all read one of our favorites together as a family!
Come on - I-800, we can't wait to get to our smarty-pants kids!

We finally officially finished the kids' rooms this weekend. We love how they look and are so excited to have the kids see them! We are sending them photo albums this week so that they can see pictures of us, the house and friends and family. So, Aaron very graciously came to our house to help us take some nice pictures of the rooms and some of us and the dogs. They look really, really nice - thanks Aaron! Here's a picture of each of the rooms :)

Well, we are very happy to report that the much anticipated documents did finally arrive in Minnesota and that our agency has already sent them back off (overnighted) to US Immigration! Wow! That was a long journey - especially for something we never saw :)
From this point, we should be about 4-6 weeks from traveling to our kids! (Of course, we will hold that loosely, and trust that God will have us go in His perfect timing - not ours)
This weekend we are finishing up the kids' rooms so that we can take pictures to put in the albums we are sending them. On tuesday we'll have a nice little package for each them that we get to send out, including a photo album, a little gift for each of them, a video of our house and a letter from us!

"Do you not know, have you not heard, the Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary. His understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary , and increases the power of the weak...But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Is. 40:28-31
Sorry, to just copy and paste an e-mail - but it tells all of the info.
"Alright--I just got off the phone with Sue--the documents are officially in Grand Rapids!!!!!! Unfortunately (sorry--I hate needing to have an "unfortunately"), the file is way too big to scan and email and they arrived too late this afternoon to get things overnighted from there, most likely (GR is an hour ahead of us). Sue is going to try get it out yet today, but most likely, she will be sending it first thing tomorrow morning, to arrive on Friday. As soon as they arrive here on Friday, we will overnight them to USCIS, so they will arrive there on Monday. I know it's little solace, but I'm so glad we will be able to get everything off yet this week. :o) "
So, in case that wasn't clear - the documents that we have waited 7 weeks for are in the states - yeah good news. Bad news - they came too late to be overnighted to MN, so we won't get them till Friday, which means USCIS won't get them till Monday. But... the documents being in the states is huge.
The last two months have been really, really stressful to me. Thank you to everyone who has been praying not just for the documents but for our hearts. If it's not too much to ask, would you please pray one tiny little more prayer that the documents would still arrive in MN very quickly?! Thanks :)

We had a fun-filled busy weekend! Dharma and Amanda came over on Saturday and we finished painting the kids' rooms. They are very bright and happy, even though they don't look like it in the picture :)
On Sunday our fantastic friends had a shower for us and blessed us with many many kind words and prayers and gifts. I was overwhelmed with kindness and love.
Unfortunately today, we received news that somehow our documents had not been sent yet. There was a "miscommunication", which I don't really understand. We've been told that our documents have been sent today and that we should now receive them in a couple of days even though we are told again that they have been overnighted. I don't know. We are really losing trust in our agency, but we are holding on to hope that we will receive the documents this week and that someday this last month or two will be just a blip on the road to our kids. PLEASE keep praying that the documents would come. Thanks everyone!
